The Value of Honor and Exellence

Prof. Solita "Winnie" Monsod. An exceptional economist and educator.

Yesterday was the last day of class for me this first semester. On our last meeting for Economics 100.1 (Macroeconomics) with Prof. Winnie Monsod, she gave us a very moving speech about honor and excellence. What does being a student of the University of the Philippines really mean? How can we help our country? This is one of the most moving things I've listened to in the duration of my stay here in the University. There were more than 200 students in yesterday's lecture class and all of us listened intently to the words of our teacher.

I think we're lucky to have her as one of our teachers. So guys what do you think? Prof. Monsod really did make a lot of sense. Our country needs us. Our country needs our brains, sweat and blood. There's no better way to end classes than a genuinely inspirational and honest message from one of the best teachers in the country. Thank you very much Ma'am Monsod. Thank you for re-iterating to us Iskolars ng Bayan the importance of staying put in the Philippines and actually taking the responsibility of change into our own hands.
